The Rose Group was founded in 1985 by Mr. Harold T. Rose with the purchase of five Roy Rogers’s restaurants from Marriott Corporation and the development of four additional units.

The Rose Group is headquartered in Newtown, Pennsylvania with active affiliated management companies CB Rose, LP; Delaware Valley Rose, LP; Rose Management Services, LP; Rose Casual Dining, LP. Non-active affiliated companies are H.T. Rose Enterprises; New Jersey Rose, L.L.C.; Philly Rose, LP; Rio Rose, LP and Tuscan Due, LLC.

The Company currently owns and operates fifty-nine Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar units in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and five Corner Bakery Cafe units in Pennsylvania.

From 1994 to 1996 the Company owned and operated twelve Boston Market units in addition to managing eighty-four Roy Rogers’s units owned by Boston Market Corporation. In 1996 the Boston Market units were sold to Boston Market Corporation and the Roy Rogers units were converted to Boston Market units. In 1997 the Company developed Einstein Bros Bagels with twenty-three units in one year which were sold.

Beginning in 1995 the Company expanded into casual dining with Applebee’s and opened three units. In 1998 the Company opened six units and in 1999 acquired twelve units in the Philadelphia market from Applebee's International. The Company opened two units in 2000, five in 2001, one in 2002, four in 2003, three in 2004, four in 2005, five in 2006, two in 2007 and one in 2008. In 2009, the Company acquired three units in Delaware from Applebee’s Services, Inc.

In 2002, in partnership with Doherty Enterprises, Inc., the Company developed Tuscan Dué LLC with Johnny Carino’s Country Italian restaurants featuring traditional Italian cuisine.  Four units were developed in the first operating year. In 2005 the territory rights were sold back to the franchisor Fired Up, Inc.

In 2006, in partnership with Doherty Enterprises, Inc., the Company developed The Shannon Rose Irish Pub. One unit opened in 2007 in Clifton, New Jersey and a second unit was added in 2009 in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

In 2007 the Company became the first in the United States to franchise Corner Bakery Cafe with the acquisition of three units in Pennsylvania. The Company has opened two units since franchising the concept.

The Company was ranked 138 by Restaurant Finance Monitor’s top 200 restaurant franchisees in the United States in 1987 and has improved its ranking to 82 in 2001, 73 in 2002, 60 in 2003, 50 in 2004, 39 in 2006, 35 in 2007, 37 in 2008 and 33 in 2009.

The Company received an award for five years of excellence 1985 to 1990 and as operator of the year mid-Atlantic region in 1987 from Roy Rogers.

The Company received an award for employer of the year from Boston Chicken, Inc. for its Boston Market and Einstein’s Bros Bagels operations and both concepts were named Best of Philly by Philadelphia Magazine.

The Company received numerous awards from Applebee’s Services, Inc. including Franchisee of the Year in 1997 and 2004, Heart of Applebee’s in 2006 and 2008. In addition, awards have been received for best training practices, most improved staffing excellence, best recruiting innovation practices, sales, quality operations, highest average weekly carside sales, customer service and development.

On July 7, 2006, the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association announced the Company had been selected as a recipient of the Restaurant Neighbor Award. The award was created by the National Restaurant Association to highlight restaurants’ community service and charitable efforts.

The Company was awarded the 2009 Maryland Mid-Size Restaurant Neighbor Award the by the National Restaurant Association, the leading business association for the restaurant industry, for its Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation program. The Company has been involved in this initiative since 2005, raising over $1.6 million towards pediatric research in memory of Alex Scott. This award honors restaurants and individuals that go above and beyond in community service, inspiring other restaurants to become more involved in their local communities.

The Company has a mission statement and philosophy to “identify and exceed our employee and customer expectations across all concepts” along with an operations mission statement to “passionately do the right thing for the guest, the team and the neighborhood.”
