Restaurants Join Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in Raising Awareness During National

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

As part ofAlex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s “Charm City Lemonade Fest,” 11 Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar throughout the Baltimore area will host lemonade stands to raise awareness for childhood cancer during National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The three day event, September 11-13, 2009 was created to invite volunteers in Baltimore to action, asking them to hold their own lemonade stands.

 

Following in the footsteps of the Foundation’s national fundraising weekend held in June, Charm City Lemonade Fest is designed to rally people in Baltimore to hold lemonade stands and other events to contribute to the battle against childhood cancer. Baltimore was chosen based on volunteer base, and funds given to local hospitals and institutions for childhood cancer research. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation has given over half a million dollars to six research projects in the area, helping researchers at Johns Hopkins University to work toward achieving Alex's dream - a cure for all childhood cancer.
